Evelyn Harkins
CHAIR
Evelyn Harkins has resided in Olney for 36 years. She is currently an employee of the DHHS of Montgomery County, MD in School Health. She has also worked in the hospitality industry for 45 years in different aspects; owning her own restaurant and catering company; working for executive chef @ Wolftrap Center for the Performing Arts; owner/investor in Hospitality Staff LLC, a company of 25 years supplying temporary help for the hospitality industry with five offices on the east coast. Evelyn graduated from Wheeling Jesuit University with a BS in Business Administration. She started driving for GO Rides in 2012 while earning her CNA/GNA from Howard CC, and now is a friendly caller. She joined the board of GO Rides in 2018.
Frank Cottone
VICE-CHAIR
Frank Cottone has been a resident of Olney over 40 years. Frank retired in 2016 after 42 years of service with Pepco Holding Inc, which was the Holding Company for Potomac Electric Power, Delmarva Power and Atlantic City Electric. Frank held many positions over the span of his career. His last position with PHI was General Manager of Support Services, responsible for strategic planning and managing facilities and the company fleet operations. Frank was also involved with the company’s Emergency Management Services that was focused on restoring power to Pepco customers during major weather events. He now enjoys his retirement life watching the many activities of his 10 grandchildren. Frank became interested in Greater Olney Rides after hearing about the organization from a friend who currently serves on the Board. Frank was a caregiver to his parents and looks forward to serving Olney senior residents as a Board member.
Madeline Lyon
CHAIR OF SERVICE
Madeline has lived in the Olney area since 1971. She was a high school English teacher and retired from Montgomery County Public Schools in 2007. Prior to joining Greater Olney Rides, she volunteered with The Senior Connection. She joined GO Rides as a volunteer driver in 2011 and served as the Volunteer Coordinator prior to and after joining the GO Rides Board for the first time. She was in charge of enrolling new riders and volunteer drivers and conducting the orientation for the new drivers. She was back up contact for the Ride Scheduler as well as a mentor to two interns that GO Rides sponsored. After her extended term on the Board ended, she continued as a driver and member of the Services Committee. As of March 2022, Madeline has rejoined the Board of GO Rides. She is also on the Board of the Olney Library Advisory Committee
Bill Isaacs
TREASURER
Bill Isaacs has been a resident of Olney for over 30 years and has lived in Montgomery County his entire life. Bill is the tax manager at Wight & Walsh, LLC located in Olney Maryland. He joined the Board of Greater Olney Rides, Inc. in 2015 and serves as the organization’s Treasurer. He graduated from Frostburg State University in 1987 with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting. Bill has been a Certified Public Accountant since 1994 and has been working in public accounting since 1987.
Pam Grant
BOARD MEMBER
Pam has lived in the Olney/Brookeville area for 35 years. Prior to joining Greater Olney Rides (GO Rides), she has 10 years experience volunteering in the area.
She was a Federal Government employee at the Food and Drug Administration for over 27 years. She served as Management Officer and Training Liaison; overseeing and directing personnel, recruitment, payroll, budget, facilities, travel, and staff training. In addition, she worked over 6 years in the private sector.
Pam attended Towson University and University of Maryland. She joined GO Rides in 2017 as a volunteer driver and became an active member of the fundraising and outreach committees before joining the Board of Directors in 2019.
Larry Willett
BOARD MEMBER
Larry Willett has been living in Olney since 1975. He is the Director for Independent Living at Brooke Grove Retirement Village, where he began working in 2009. “Excellent service every time” is the motto at Westbrooke Clubhouse (where the independent living residents dine as well as take part in various activities) and sums up Larry and his team’s commitment to the residents of Brooke Grove. Prior to working at Brooke Grove, he worked for two restaurants, Equinox and David Greggory, in downtown DC. Preceding that, Larry had been an editor and productions manager for the International Commission on English in the Liturgy, a commission serving the English-speaking bishops in the Roman Catholic Church. He has a BA in Philosophy from Saint Mary’s Seminary and University, Catonsville, Maryland. Larry joined the Greater Olney Rides Board in April 2017 and is very interested in helping seniors maintain their independence thus enhancing the quality of their lives.
Darlene Gibecke
BOARD MEMBER
Darlene is a retired Resident Nurse where she spent the last 23 years in an Oncology practice in Olney/Rockville area. She loved this chapter in her career and still think of the patients. She is also a Mimi to two grandkids Bradley and Mia. They bring such joy to her life. Her hobbies are exercising and reading. She has already read 22 books this summer due to covid. She has also volunteered at Montgomery Medstar which has been on hold due to Covid.
Gail Kahan
BOARD MEMBER
Gail Kahan is the owner of Kahan Law, a boutique law firm which concentrates on wills, trusts, probate and trust administration. She enjoys serving on the Board of Directors of Greater Olney Rides as strong local non-profit organizations help create a vibrant and close-knit community for all to enjoy.
Audrey Partington
BOARD SECRETARY
A native New Yorker, Audrey has been a resident of Olney since 1992. After completing Montgomery County’s Senior Leadership Program in 2011, she joined the newly formed Board of Greater Olney Rides as its secretary, and chaired the Communications and Outreach Committee through 2016. She rejoined the Board as secretary in 2021 and resumed her previous role on the Outreach Committee. The retired former editor of the Library of Congress Magazine, Audrey is a contributing writer for the Greater Olney News.
Dairy Morroquin
BOARD MEMBER
Dairy Marroquin currently serves as the Community Outreach Coordinator at MedStar Montgomery Medical Center located in Olney, MD. Since 2014 she has had the opportunity to work with the Olney and surrounding community very closely, by helping to promote good health of residents of our communities, especially those who face barriers to quality care. Her passion is to serve others and partner with local organizations to provide easy access to various programs for all, from fitness and health education programs to access to food and free transportation. She has enjoyed working and partnering with Greater Olney Rides throughout the years and looks forward to continued partnership growth through MedStar Health. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and running.
