OUR SERVICES

What We Offer

Transportation

GO Ride's transportation services help seniors get to the hospital, to the store, to a doctor’s appointment, or a social gathering anywhere in Montgomery County. Each person who would like to receive rides from GO Rides must first complete the transportation application. Once completed we will notify you when you may begin requesting rides.

Special Deliveries

This service can be used for pick-up needs such as (but not limited to) groceries, prescriptions, library books, and more. Once a volunteer is confirmed for your pick-up, you will need to share the pick-up details with our volunteer including location, time, and a confirmation number if applicable. Our drivers will arrange to leave your package at your front door to reduce physical contact.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Greater Olney Rides has been assisting me with transportation for over two years. Their volunteers are helpful, punctual, caring, and kind. I have been accompanied to appointments, both medical and personal, by many nice people on their staff. As long as a volunteer is available, which is 98% of the time, you can be assured of getting to your destination promptly; and as an added bonus they wait with you!

After I retired, I was looking for a meaningful way to give back to the community where I live. Based on my own experience with aging parents, I was well aware of how critical transportation needs can be for the elderly. Volunteering for GO Rides has been a very rewarding experience for me. I have met many wonderful seniors who are very appreciate of this service.

Potomac Community Village Invites the Public to Mark Earth Day with Learning, Action and Clean Up

Potomac, MD:  Many seniors believe preserving the environment is a top priority and participate in environmentally friendly practices, but fewer are hopeful that their efforts will have lasting impact, according to a recent report from the Mather Institute. * The seniors of Potomac Community Village (PCV) are hoping to change that!

In partnership with Elders for Climate Action, PCV is hosting “Honoring Earth Day:  Learning and Action” to share the latest science on climate change, to learn about key legislative state initiatives to protect it, and offer practical solutions that EACH individual can take to make a difference.  Speakers: Bruce Davis (Climate Reality Project), Leslie Wharton (Elders Climate Action) and Frances Stewart (Elders Climate Action) will lead a dynamic panel to inform and challenge all participants to take action today to start protecting our planet.

“We are excited to partner with Elders Climate Action (ECA) who are leaders in trying to end the climate crisis and create a sustainable future for our children and grandchildren,” says Sylvia Diss, PCV and ECA member and organizer of the panel. “Many seniors care deeply about protecting the environment but are overwhelmed or feel hopeless about what to do.  This event will empower them with knowledge and inspire them to take action!”

Honoring Earth Day: Learning and Action will be held Thursday, April 20, from 3-5 p.m. at the Potomac Community Center,  11315 Falls Road, Potomac, MD. Free and open to all. Registration is encouraged through the PCV Help Desk at 20854HelpDesk@gmail.com or 240-221-1370.

PCV members will “take action” following the panel by joining with the C&O Canal Trust in its Earth Day cleanup on Saturday morning, April 22, 9 am – 12 noon, to pick up trash, paint or remove invasive plants.
